Kimia, Malika and Julia

Thanks to the coaching provided by the Sport/Art-Etudes program, these three athletes and artists are able to combine their young careers with their studies.

Kimia Corke entered the school in September 2022 in the French-speaking 9th grade, and three months later joined the multilingual 9th grade reinforcement class for new students. At the start of the 2023 school year, Kimia joined the bilingual German stream in 10th grade, while pursuing a career as a violinist that began at the age of 4 and a half. Since joining the Zakhar Bron School of Music in 2021, Kimia has won 1st prize in the Baroque Competition of the Conservatoire Cantonal de Sion, 1st prize in the New York Artists International Competition and 1st prize in the Swiss Youth Music Competition in 2021. In 2022, she appeared with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, performing “Winter” from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. In 2023, she won 1st prize at the Rising Stars in Riga and the Làszlò Spezzaferri International Music Prize in Verona.

Kimia regularly crosses paths with Malika Zodrow, also in 10th grade bilingual German. An avid footballer since the age of six, Malika played for girls' teams at FC Champel and Servette. Spotted by the Association Cantonale Genevoise de Football, she joined Servette Elite in 2022 and will be joining the Under 15s in September 2023. Thanks to three free afternoons a week, Malika followed the training sessions that saw her make the transition from defender to striker, both up front and on the wings. At the start of the 2023-24 season, Servette's Under 15s finished fourth in the Geneva Championship.

The eldest student, Julia Lossy, in her final year of the Cycle in the bilingual German stream, has chosen a different version of the scheme: the intensive route, ideal for devoting herself to her passion while keeping up with the pace of the classroom. A dancer since the age of 3 in Poznan, Julia returned to classical dance when she arrived in Geneva, first at the Conservatoire Populaire, then at the Ecole de Danse de Genève. She broadened her horizons in 2022 by joining Dance Area to study ballet sur pointes, contemporary dance, street jazz and modern jazz, complemented in July by an internship at the Pôle national supérieur de danse Rosella Hightower. Her eight hours of dance a week have not prevented her from doing brilliantly at school and preparing for her entry into the Collège, continuing in bilingual German.
